Position Summary and Impact: 


The Associate role for Settlements team primarily focuses on Non-US settlements of Equity & Fixed Income securities.  The successful candidate will be an experienced, energetic and contributing member of a highly driven group of professionals focused on settling international equity & fixed income trades and all additional intricacies that are involved with market set-up and re-registration/renewal.  The global function, that the incumbent will be part of, manages local market investments for all of TIAA Investment’s & Nuveen Asset Management’s Public Fixed Income & Equity portfolios


Functional Responsibilities: 

·        Support Equity & Fixed Income settlements for all publicly trades funds

·        Meet and exceed internal/market/regulatory SLAs

·        Maintain settlement data across various platforms for all accounts and brokers

·        Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements

·        Ensure all process and audit trail documentation is up-to-date at all times

·        Train and coach peer team members

·        Work directly with IT or vendors to resolve any technical issues

·        Work directly with various global custodians, brokers, and corporate action teams  to facilitate any extraordinary settlement issues

·        Coordinate data set-up for new markets

·        Coordinate and liaise with global custodian on local market renewals and re-registrations

·        Actively provide input to and implement process improvements

·        Identify, escalate and thereby proactively manage process/delivery risks

·        Maintain and provide timely and accurate MI of process performance and risk

Job Requirements And Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

Required Experience:

3-7.5 years

·        Investment Banking and/or Asset Management industry experience in an offshored operations environment

·        Extensive experience in one or more of the following operational processes: Trade and transaction processing/Portfolio Accounting

Preferred Experience:

3-7.5 years

Understanding of Funds (Pension funds, Mutual funds, separate accts)

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Required Skills

·        Very good understanding of the lifecycle of a trade from execution to settlement – especially Fixed Income & Equity products

·        Solid understanding of SWIFT messaging and format

·        Excel including macros, vlookups, pivot tables and other advanced skills

·        Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

·        Strong team player with very good interpersonal skills

·        Prioritization and problem solving skills

·        Ability to work under pressure and address difficult issues in high stress environments

Preferred Skills:

·        Experience with Omgeo products (Alert, CTM, Oasys)

·        Experience with Eagle Star Portfolio Accounting System

·        Experience with Linedata’s Longview Trading System, Bloomberg AIM, Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRD) (CRIMS)

·        Experience with BBH Infomediary
